iButterfly: Catch butterflies with your iPhone!

Saturday, May 05, 2012

Japan has developed a new iPhone App, iButterfly, that lets you catch virtual butterflies and turn them in for valuable offers. The application uses augmented reality to take video feed from your phone's camera and superimposes virtual images -- in this case butterflies. ♥
SM Super malls launched the iButterfly application today at SM The Block with Mr. Raymond Gutierez as their Emcee. It was a star studded event, Magallona clan was there to name a few.  Imagine opening your camera application and seeing digital butterflies fluttering by in the real world. iButterfly lets you do this AND MORE. Butterflies become coupons that may be redeemed at participating stores such as Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Forever 21, David’s Salon, Kenny Rogers, Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Chowking, Red Ribbon, Greenwich, BDO and McDonald’s!

It uses GPS (Global Positioning System) to know where you are located because as of now you may only catch the special butterflies at SM malls (SM North Edsa, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Cebu, SM Davao, SM Southmall, SM Fairview, SM Baguio)

Here’s what you have to do to start turning iButterflies into instant prizes:

Download the application (iButterfly Asia) online via your iOS or Android phone. Make sure you have the right application with the blue icon. Visit http://smibutterfly.com to make sure!
Catch iButterflies while connected to the internet. Just swipe or tap and collect!
Redeem prizes by presenting iButterflies at participating stores.
