Meet …

Meet Meow, a cat fighting to lose 10 pounds so he can be found a new home. The two-year-old orange and white tabby tips the scale at almost 40 pounds, and the Santa Fe Animal Shelter is on a mission to get the feline back into shape. Meow's 87-year-old owner could no longer take care of him, so the pet was turned over to the shelter in southeastern New Mexico for help.

Meow, a 2-year-old tabby tops the scale at over 39 pounds at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter in Santa Fe, N.M.. Meow, came to the shelter after his elderly owner could no longer care for the feline. The shelter plans to put the cat on a special diet so he can lose weight gradually. Adult cats typically weigh between 7 and 12 pounds.

The cat that got national attention for tipping the scale at 39 pounds has died according to Yahoo news.. The Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society said Monday, May 7, 2012 that the orange and white tabby died over the weekend, likely from complications from his morbid obesity.

So sad to read this news. Meow is really cute. Hope you'll meet my other friendly cats there up in heaven :)
