Chef Boy Logro's Birthday Charity Event

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Chef Boy Logro is not your ordinary Chef. He has come a long way and I feel very fortunate to get to know him better at his Birthday Charity event at Brgy. 73 Caloocan where he
chose to celebrate it with Moms and children who loves him that much and were very delighted when they got to see him, chanting
"Yum Yum Yum!" all at the same time.

The place was chosen simply because Chef Boy wanted to go back to the places
where he used to live and trace back his roots. According to him, he used to live
at 5th Avenue Caloocan when he was 16 years old. He can still recall how determined he is in finding a job because he knows for a fact that he needs to pursue his dreams since
he didn't get the chance to continue with his studies but that didn't stop him.

From being a house boy, he also worked in a Chinese Restaurant where he learned how to cook siopao. He recalled how hard it is to cook siopao because they do it before without the help of any machines. He would wake up early to knead the dough for how many minutes.

But ever since then, he always pay attention, he would watch chefs how they
cook and take note of them. He learned how to cook European dishes while working at a  restaurant in Makati, and at Bayview Plaza Hotel.

Later on, he met an Arab who offered him a job at Oman. In 1982, Chef Boy went to Oman to work at the Al Bustan Palace, where guests of the king would stay. It was one of the most memorable experience for Chef Boy since he worked in a wonderful atmosphere. He also get
to meet the royalties like Queen Elizabeth, President Bush, Princess Diana
and many more. Plus, he also get to bring with him his family when he was working there. He worked at Oman for 10 years and he truly treasured the experience because here
he mastered his craft of cooking, he learned different dishes and also get to experiment
unique recipes which eventually made the King it's favorite dish.

Chef Boy returned to Manila in 1992 and worked at the Manila Diamond hotel.
He was later promoted and became the first Filipino to be named executive chef of
a five-star hotel in the country and the rest is history.

He was able to open his own culinary school after he left Diamond Hotel
where he shares his own expertise to cooking enthusiasts. He told us that he is very hands on when he is teaching his students and wanted them to demonstrate everything instead of focusing to lectures.

His family, he believes is his most valuable possession. He has 4 kids, 3 Boys and 1 girl all
Chefs as well. Even his wife loves to cook. He also ventures on investing to properties like owning a restaurant, a 5 hectares resort and house at Davao, Cavite and Biliran
where he was born.

The Birthday event was hosted by Tess Bomb which showcased fun activities like
Bring Me, creative pick up lines and more. Chef Boy also introduced his newest endorsement which is Mekeni Tocino.

There were plenty of food prepared for the families and they all enjoyed the meal plus some freebies from Chef Boy. This 57 year old Chef is definitely one of a kind.
His show Kusina Master won as the Best Lifestyle Program in the 19th Annual NAMIC Vision Award and is the longest running cooking show in the Philippines as of the moment.
He considers it as one of his achievement and feels very grateful to the people who enjoys watching his show.

Chef Boy is also excited for his up coming book that will feature the best of his recipes
and also a compilation of his cooking demo from Kusina Master in a DVD.

His message to all his fans who wanted to follow his footsteps is:

"...pagbutihin ang pag aaral, magsipag at maging masunurin
 at huwag tumigil na matuto.
Huwag dibdibin ang problema, huwag masyadong mag isip. May problema man o wala, dapat ang buhay ay laging masaya lang. Makuntento kung ano ang meron ka at huwag tumigil na mangarap. "

Catch Chef Boy Logro at Unang Hirit this coming Friday
August 2 and every morning weekdays on Kusina Master
