Hired! Jonathan Yabut is Apprentice Asia 1st Winner

Jonathan Allen Yabut, 27, a Filipino marketer, was named the first-ever winner of The Apprentice Asia which had its grand finals in Kuala Lumpur. The episode was aired last night exclusively on AXN, producer of the reality-TV search.

Manila-based Yabut, 27, a University of the Philippines graduate, bested 11 other hopefuls from the region, concluding the debut season of the show inspired by the US reality program starring business luminary Donald Trump.

Filipino Jonathan Allen Yabut topped 11 other contestants in the competition that stakes a job under business mogul Tony Fernandes.


Yabut emerged the winner after edging co-finalist Andrea Lo of Singapore in the contest’s final task, which is to spearhead a black-tie fundraiser for the AirAsia Foundation in Kuala Lumpur. It was aired as the show’s season-ending 11th episode.

Fernandes is the chief executive officer of AirAsia.

The job reportedly comes with a salary of at least $100,000.

“The Apprentice Asia,” which tests the contestants’ marketing and sales savvy, made its debut episode last May 22.
