Dormitoryo: New Suspense Thriller Series on GMA Sunday Grande Afternoon Block

What mystery unfolds in the newest TV series of GMA Network "Dormitoryo"?
Dormitoryo is an upcoming Filipino suspense-thriller-drama series to be broadcast by GMA Network starring Lauren Young, Joyce Ching, Enzo Pineda, Ruru Madrid, Winwyn Marquez, Mayton Eugenio, Annicka Dolonius, Ash Nordstrom and Mel Kimura. It is set to premiere on GMA Network on September 22, 2013 on GMA Sunday Grande afternoon block after Sunday All Stars and worldwide via GMA Pinoy TV on September 29, 2013.
According to Lauren Young, this is yet another challenging role for her since in Mundo Mo'y Akin, she portrayed a kontrabida role, in this series, she's more on the protagonist side
where we can see her different acting skills since this is more on a suspense, drama all in one series. “It’s good, kasi, iba naman ang gagawin ko. Siyempre, ayoko naman na from the beginning na palagi kong sinasabi sa inyo, ayoko na palagi akong kontrabida, kontrabida, I want to be able to switch from being kontrabida to the protagonist, antagonist.
“Siguro, it’s also a testing to see kung saan talaga ako magwo-work. Kung bagay ba sa akin ang mabait o bagay ba sa akin ang hindi mabait.”
When she was asked what role she liked best, her answer is, “Masaya kasing maging kontrabida. Sobrang sayang maging kontrabida na inaapi-api mo yung mga tao. At saka, it’s challenging because you make the people hates you and if you don’t make the people hates you, parang hindi mo ginagawa ng tama ang trabaho mo.” She said that she's been dreaming to be an actress ever since, when asked if she will eventually join a Beauty Pageant soon, she said who know? but right now she is more focused on her acting career. The said project is her first lead role after signing her exclusive contract with the network in April.
Although she's top billing the program, Lauren said it's a group project. "I'm happy but I see it as an ensemble, na kung wala 'yung isang tao or character na ito, hindi siya mag work the way it's supposed to work. I don't see it as I'm the lead star, may kanya-kanya kaming moment to shine to show our talents as an artist," she said.
Likewise, Enzo Pineda shares the same excitement with his latest project in Kapuso network and also being paired with Lauren Young. He feels blessed for the projects coming his way and said, "Kailangan mag sipag para makita ng tao na ginagawa mo to not only for yourself but for your supporters as well." “Having two shows in a year, it’s kinda like a big deal, di ba?“Happy ako sa trust na ibinibigay sa akin ng GMA, at happy ako dahil they are willing to invest on me at nakikita nila yung efforts ko.“Yun lang naman din ang gusto kong makita nila—I’m here and I’m willing to be a very good actor.
“Mahal ko ang trabaho ko at gagawin ko ang lahat para maging okay ako.”
Joyce Ching will play a mean girl in Dormitoryo which is a first for her since she always plays the good girl. According to Joyce, "Nakaka-pressure ng konti kasi parang ako nga yung magtataray sa kanya. Sa story pa, mas matanda ako sa kanya so kailangan mas mataas na heels." She and Lauren bonded really well even on and off screen. She added that it's hard to play a mean girl to a super nice girl like Lauren but she has to do her role well.
Ash Nordstrom also stars in this series who is a former figure skater. Before she used to take workshops just to be more effective when it comes to acting.
Ruru Madrid
The series focuses on the search of Hazel Mendoza (Lauren Young), an incoming freshman Mass Communication student at Branwood College, for answers on the death of Maika Benitez who died in the same dormitory she’s staying at—the Holy Spirit Manor. It may just be a mere accident for the police but the dormers have a different speculation on Maika’s death.
Tickling Hazel’s curiosity more is her snappy roommate Weng Dimagiba who believes that Maika’s ex-boyfriend Burn Chavez was the one who pushed Maika into committing suicide.
On her way towards unraveling the cause of Maika’s death, Hazel eventually meets Burn who used to have a secret relationship with Maika. As he tries to help in the case, this heartthrob varsity player soon develops feelings for Hazel. Will he be able to get a shot or is this just his way to distract Hazel?
Ready to comfort Hazel is her batchmate Charlie Chavez. Bringing light to Hazel’s serious personality, this aspiring film director always radiates a positive and friendly vibe. Despite being fearful, boy-next-door Charlie is an avid fan of horror movies. But, will he be brave enough to admit his feelings for Hazel?
Because of the attention Hazel is getting, here comes Airiz De Ocampo all set to take the spotlight. She wants to be noticed and is quite a snazzy dresser. Despite being the talk of the town, this 19-year old flirty girl loves to be at the heart of a scandal. Will she also lure the attention of Burn towards her? And what is her connection to Maika’s death?
Surprises and revelations are yet to be disclosed as Hazel moves closer towards solving the mystery. Will she be able to discover the truth behind Maika’s death or will she suffer the same fate as Maika?
