Benjamin Alves: A Step Closer to Showbiz Fame

Saturday, March 01, 2014

We all know him as Bok or Agalon in the hit GMA Afternoon prime fantaserye "Adarna" where he plays opposite Kylie Padilla with other hunk actors like Mikael Daez and Geoff Eigenmann. But in real life, what makes Benjamin Alves the next matinee Hunk to look out for?

We got the chance to sit down and have an intimate talk with Benjamin Sapida or better known as Benjamin Alves at House of Lasagna Eton Centris. This 24 year old actor is really good looking in person and not only that, you should prepare you vocabulary and proof readings skills because Benajmin is a summa cum laude English Literature graduate from University of Guam. Although people might get intimated with his scholastic records, he is very humble in person. He talks with humor and is very down to earth.

In his more than two years in showbiz as a Kapuso, Benjamin has appeared in a few movies (Guni-Guni, Sana Dati and Islands) and TV shows (Coffee Prince and Unforgettable;  Katipunan and Adarna). He is also in the cast of Cebuana Lhuillier’s Iskolar, included in GMA’s collection of short films.

On being link again and again to his uncle Piolo Pascual, he said, this is unavoidable. Although he really is proud of Piolo's accomplishment even stating that he also watched the recent movie of Piolo which is "Starting Over Again" twice, he wants to be recognized on his own.
He believes that he is blessed for the projects given to him by kapuso Network GMA and would love to try different roles so he can showcase his versatility. He would love to be a part of an action project whether movie or a teleserye.

When Benjamin is not busy, he takes time to focus on his love for Biking. He's been busy training TriMac at Subic. His passion for biking shows because he said, biking is more of an investment. You invest your time, money and a lot of hard work.  This gives him a breather from the showbiz industry. It also makes him more fit which is why we asked him if he will be part of any sexy fashion show this year and he said while laughing, "We'll see." According to Benjamin, there are times he just can't picture himself going topless.

As for having limitations with roles, he said he doesn't have limitations even if he was given the role of Tom Or Dennis in My Husband's Lover, he would go for it because it is acting, so why not. For as long as "Maganda yung story, I will go for it."

Since Piolo's name was mentioned, I also asked if he would also love to have an album of hiw own since Piolo also had a number of album. He said, he would try. Benjamin has written a number of poems and it would be nice if he can also write a song of his own. I believe he would have an amazing album since his voice sounds perfect for ballad songs.

If Benjamin is not pursuing an acting career, what would make him busy?
Benjamin said, "Showbiz was a blessing, because I was planning on pursuing a Master’s degree and eventually earn a Ph.D.  I was planning on becoming an English professor at a university somewhere. I love to write, I love reading other people’s writing and their development as writers; I used to tutor ESL (English as Second Language) students as my part-time job at the university.  I also want to write a novel that would be adaptable to film.  I want to try my hand at screenplays, though I am pretty bad at injecting dialogues in my stories."

Lastly, Is Benjamin single?:) YES He is! :)
According to Benjamin, playing the role of Bok is liberating to him because he plays the role of a kanto boy who falls in love with the heroine.  Adarna is down to its final weeks, viewers shouldn't miss out a single episode because there will be a lot of twists, cliff hanging episodes and lot of flying and revelation..

2013 has been really good to Benjamin Alves and we are hoping that he will be given more projects this 2014 because he is a promising actor.
