Mikael Daez: Flies High in Adarna

Monday, March 03, 2014

The  25-year-old Kapuso star Mikael Daez seems to make it right to the top. He is a successful host and actor, a sought-after model, a business school graduate, a health advocate and a national peace ambassador.

Bloggers got the chance to get a one on one interview with one of the most sought after leading man in GMA. He shares with us how he made it where he is now step by step and how is really into what he is doing.

Mikael plays the role of Falco, opposite Kylie Padilla and also part of the love triangle with Geoff Eigenmann and Benjamin Alves. So what are the difference of this role compared to his last project With a Smile,he answered, “Very different yung character niya in terms of attitude and personality. My character before in my previous teleserye, With A Smile, is very happy-go-lucky, mayabang, may confidence. kay Falco, very elegant 'to e, very classy. An upstanding warrior kumbaga so iba yung demeanor niya, yung seriousness sa mukha niya which we didn’t find in any other characters.”

Adarna will be airing their last few weeks and Mikael told us that its going to be that kind of episodes you shouldn't miss. He also felt really blessed because GMA has entrusted him with continues project and big roles as well. These projects includes the primetime remake Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga in 2012 and the morning rom-com With A Smile 2013. He is also grateful to have been given the opportunity to do a project with Kapuso royalty Marian Rivera in the period drama Amaya and in the suspense-thriller My Beloved.

Mikael added, “I try to improve per project, ‘yun lang ang primary goal ko. Ang hirap naman na sabihin ko, the best agad. Kailangan may progression. Every project, gusto kong may maipakita akong bago,”

Mikael shows his versatility because he is not only active in the showbiz industry, he is also very into technology and blogging. Early this year, Mikael joined the ranks of select showbiz personalities who took part in News and Public Affairs. He began to take part on GMA’s morning program Unang Hirit and banner Saksi’s recently-launched food segment Midnight Snack, as well as co-star on GMA News TV’s primetime drama Titser, which discusses issues in Philippine education.

He showed his love for food when he eventually landed Midnight Snack, which caps off late-night news source Saksi. “They wanted someone new, someone fresh, so they tried me out,” added Mikael. He works on Midnight Snack roughly three days a week.
He recently went to London and also did some taping there.

Doing his role as Falco in Adarna is challenging for him. They are constantly suspended in the air because they are half human half birds. Most of the time they shoot outdoors and via chroma too.

How was it working with Kylie? "She is very determined, knows her craft well. Sweet but a fighter. Magaan sya katrabaho kaya mahirap yung mga scenes, masarap yung ganun kasi gumagaan ang tranaho.  He also shares the same thing with his other co-stars Benjamin Alves and Geoff Eigenmann. Asked if ever he will be given the chance to portray the role given to Dennis Trillo or Tom Rodriguez in the epic high rating teleserye "My Husbands Lover" would he accept it? He answered with confidence, "Why Not? it's a role. Every actor should portray roles given to them. It's part of being an actor. Given the right project and story, okay yan."
