GMA Afternoon Prime Block Heats Up!

Friday, May 09, 2014

Last May 4, GMA Kapuso station held a Bloggers Conference for their afternoon prime block which features stars of Villa Quintana, Innamorata and The Borrowed Wife.
It was a fun filled afternoon with the stars and we also had a chance to interview them with what are their latest projects and more!

After checking the latest rating online, I must say GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime Block remains unbeatable. That is according to Neilsen TV Audience Meaurement. The data say Villa Quintana, Innamorata and The Borrowed Wife continue to deliver strong ratings performance nationwide.

For Villa Quintana, Elmo Magallona and Janine Gutierrez were there to represent their timeslot. GMA’s Afternoon Prime programming block begins with Villa Quintana, the remake of the heartwarming love story that became a phenomenal hit series in the mid-90s. The remake stars Elmo Magalona as Isagani Samonte and Janine Gutierrez as Lynette Quintana with Raymart Santiago, Paolo Contis, Al Tantay and Sunshine Dizon. The program clearly edged out its competition and gained ratings stronghold in its timeslot. According to Janina and Elmo, it is easier to work in a love team if you're both really compatible with each other. People nowadays knows immediately if the actors are not consistent with the roles they play which is why they said they owe it to their fans who has been supporting their new love team.

Next is Innamorata which tackles the genetic disorder porphyria. Max Collins, Luis Alandy, Jackie Rice, Dion Ignacio, Gwen Zamora star in the series together with Michael de Mesa and Rita Avila. It has been garnering critical acclaim since its debut and kept audiences hooked on the series from its pilot airing.

In the series, Max’s character as Esperanza is mistreated because of her hereditary skin disease. Through the ruby necklace of her grandmother Alejandra played by Gwen Zamora, Esperanza becomes beautiful and her porphyria disappears. According to Max, this has been her most challenging role yet because of the prosthetics which take up to 2 hours before it is all set and about 45 minutes to take it off.

Meanwhile, The Borrowed Wife, topbilled by Camille Prats, TJ Trinidad, Rafael Rosell and Pauleen Luna with Yayo Aguila, Sherilyn Reyes, Kevin Santos and Caridad Sanchez, charmed viewers with its compelling storyline, excellent actors and high production values and managed to register high viewer ratings from its pilot airing. It is directed by Gil Tejada, Jr. from a concept by Rey Leoncito.

Camille said that although their Teleserye is very timely since most of the teleserye eevn movies nowadays have a theme of indecent love affairs or tackles about marriage problems, The Borrowed tackles a bit heavier. She also added that, "Although I don’t have any problems taking mother roles, I’m happy with it, but it’s always good to try something new and something different para din sa audience, di ba. Hindi sila parang, ‘Ay ganyan na naman yung role niya?’ Kasi lagi na lang siyang kung hindi mahirap na nanay na nawawala yung anak, iyon yung lagi kong role,”

Even Pauleen Luna confided that even though they portray heavy roles off cam, they are a bunch of happy united artists. They love eating as part of their bonding.

Before the interview, there were fun games for the Bloggers and the artists.

Don't miss GMA's afternoon block as it heats up everyday after Eat Bulaga!
