She's Dating the Gangster had a BlogCon today at ELJ Building ABS CBN and I'm glad I had the chance to meet the big stars once again together with Direk Cathy, Ms. Carmi and Ms. Bianca who officially wrote the book.

According to Daniel and Kathryn, they are in their most mature project in She’s Dating The Gangster which is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

 She’s Dating the Gangster is adapted from a Wattpad story-turned-book of the same title written by Ms. Bianca Bernardino. We all know how Wattpad made huge waves when it comes to their readers especially the youth who really loves reading different stories. She's Dating the Gangster is a story about star crossed lovers (Kenji and Athena) and the other, an unlikely couple (Kenneth and Kelay).

Daniel and Kathryn has come a long way when it comes to being just a "love team". They have been paired in different projects before, like their recent horror movie which was part of MMFF 2013 "Pagpag" which is a blockbuster movie then their top rating teleserye "Got to Believe".

Kathryn said that even though the movie is Rom-Com, she would consider She's Dating the Gangster her most serious and mature role ever. She said, "nahirapan din kami i-portray roles namin". She added that they are most certainly comfortable working side by side now since they know each other really well. 

With Daniel,he  said the movie is nothing like they’ve done in the past. “Ibang-iba because first of all, Kathryn and I matured in the film. Personally, ngayon ko lang naramdaman na nag effort ng sobra-sobra. We really learned a lot.”

According to Direk Cathy, the movie has to undergo some changes compared to the book because we all know that the book is a big hit with the teens, Direk Cathy said that most of her movies were adult themed which is why they made it sure that they will do some changes with the movie but will still stick with how the story goes even with the characters. Even Ms. Carmi said that it was at first a big challenge for them to make a book into a movie because somehow they can't promise that it will be 100% based from the book but they tried and it worked really good, they are excited to watch the movie together with KathNiel. But Direk Cathy and Ms. Carmi made it sure that they ask first with the author before they made revisions. Ms. Bianca said that it's okay for them to revised some parts but not the "kilig" parts of the book that most of her readers are really expecting.

“She’s Dating The Gangster,” follows the story of the transferee Athena (Kathryn Bernardo) who unwittingly agreed to pretend as the girlfriend of the campus heartthrob Kenji Delos Reyes (Daniel Padilla) who aims to win back the heart of his ex-girlfriend. However, plans started to change when their make-believe relationship grew deeper than expected.

She’s Dating The Gangster also stars Khalil Ramos, Sofia Andres, Pamu Pamorada, Marco Gumabao, John Uy, Alex Diaz, Igi Boy Flores and Yana Asistio. Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta have special roles in the film, which forms part of the ongoing 20th anniversary celebration of Star Cinema. She’s Dating The Gangster is opening in theaters on July 16.
