George W. Bush ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Friday, August 22, 2014

The Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity promoting the awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis where participants dump a bucket of ice water on their head. Many celebrities, former United States presidents, and other notable individuals participated in this challenge.

Notably, here's a new one, George W. Bush, joined in on the Ice Bucket Challenge with a Facebook video last Wednesday. Nominated by New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, pro golfer Rory McIlroy, San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, and daughter Jenna Bush Hager (where you at, Barbara?), Bush recorded a 48-second video to join in on the cause that's raising awareness and millions in donations for ALS research.

"I do not think it's presidential for me to be splashed with ice water, so I'm simply going to write you a check," declares Bush, who's clad in an casual, arguably un-presidential crew neck tee sans American flag pin.

Congratulations, former Mr. President. You've now joined most of America, celebrity or otherwise, in dunking their heads for a good cause.
