Award winning director Carlos Siguion-Reyna returns to moviemaking via the family drama “Hari Ng Tondo,” which is the official entry of APT Productions Inc., MZET TV and Reyna Films in the Directors’ Showcase category of the 10th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival held last August. Working side by side with a screenplay courtesy of wife Bibeth, and with son Rafa and niece Cris Villonco in the cast.

Star Cinema joins forces with Reyna Films Inc. and Central Digital Lab for the mainstream theatrical release nationwide of “Hari Ng Tondo” this coming October 1.

The story evolves around Robert Arevalo who plays the patriarch of a family, who became rich after living in Tondo and now lives in Forbes Park. A widower, he has a son (Audie Gemora), a daughter (Ali Sotto) and a son-in-law (Eric Quizon). Representing the succeeding generation are Cris and Rafa. When fortunes turn, and he finds himself on the brink of bankruptcy, the self-proclaimed Hari decides to go back “home,” challenging his grandchildren to join him so that hopefully, they will learn something about life and their roots. The theme of the movie is just superb because the next generation will learn a lot of "golden lessons" on how to treat every day as a big blessing and do something make their future brighter, appreciate their family and their roots as well.

Written by Bibeth Orteza, “Hari Ng Tondo” stars Robert Arevalo as Ricardo Villena, a grandfather on the verge of bankruptcy. Playing his grandchildren are real-life cousins Cris Villonco and Rafa Siguion-Reyna.

Also in the cast are Rez Cortez, Lorenz Martinez, Liza Lorena, Aiza Seguerra, Ciara Sotto, Gian Magdangal, Ali Sotto, Menggie Cobarrubias and Eric Quizon, among others.
