EVERY mother's greatest fear will come alive in Star Cinema's upcoming horror-drama Maria Leonora Teresa.

Directed by blockbuster director Wenn V. Deramas and with a script written by Keiko Aquino, Maria Leonora Teresa is a horror-drama for the entire family and it is centered on the interconnected lives of three mothers who lost their individual daughters to a brutal accident.

This unimaginable tragedy left their mothers Faith, Julio, and Stella with indelible and unbearable grief. The mothers will do anything and everything to keep the memories of their daughters alive and to cope with their pain they seek professional help from a doctor who offers them dolls who look exactly like their deceased daughters. Peculiar as it may be, the mothers accept the doctor's offer. The mothers will now discover if the dolls will bring them comfort as they deal with their pain and grief or if the dolls will cause terror beyond their wildest imaginations.

The film features an ensemble cast that consist of some of the most accomplished actors in the industry today namely Iza Calzado, Zanjoe Maruod and Jodi Sta. Maria.

 Iza Calzado
Just like the director, Iza also ventures in her first horror film under Star Cinema as she plays the role of Faith, the loving mother of Maria. Describing the film as both “exciting and challenging,” the actress once again displays her brilliance in drama.

Iza shared, “The closest thing to being a parent that I’ve ever experienced is helping take care of my stepbrother, who is now 11 years old. But in this movie, I realized that iba pala talaga ang pagmamahal na ibinibigay mo pay may inaalagaan kang tao at ikaw ang responsable sa pagpapalaki sa kanya.”

Zanjoe Marudo
Zanjoe, on the other hand, takes a break from comedy as he plays the role of Julio, a gay teacher who is the adoptive parent of Leonora. “May rapport talaga ako sa mga bata,” revealed Zanjoe in getting into character for the movie. “May mga pamangkin akong bata kaya hindi na naging mahirap sa akin na mag-adjust at maramdaman ang pagiging parent. Pero dito may added challenge of being a closeted gay parent.”

 Jodi Sta. Maria
Lastly, Jodi, who is now popularly known as Maya in Be Careful With My Heart, is one of the country’s most versatile actresses with a career that spans two decades. In the film, she portrays Stella, the overprotective mom of Teresa.

“Siyempre po bilang isang ina, sigurado ako na masakit po na mawalan ng isang anak lalo na kung doon na halos umikot ang mundo mo at ang buhay,” expressed Jodi, who delivers another heart-tugging portrayal.

Playing the title roles are three of the most talented child actors in the industry today, Red Bustamante, JC Movida and Juvy Bison.

Maria Leonora Terera is a spine-chilling horror flick for the whole family. It teaches moviegoers on how to deal with the loss of a loved one and accept the pain that goes with it to eventually move on.

Maria Leonora Teresa is part of Star Cinema's on-going 20th anniversary celebration and it is showing in all cinemas nationwide starting September 17.
