Andre Paras Celebrates Birthday in a Wheelchair at Tahanang Walang Hagdanan

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

We all know that Andre Paras in the son of the famous Basketball player turned Comedian Benjie Paras, it was not easy having a father who had a legacy of being a PBA legend in the Basketball scene, fortunately, Andre didn't find it hard to make a name of his own at this early stage.

Andre, who celebrated his birthday at Tahanang Walang Hagdanan turned 19 this year and proved that he got what it takes to play Basketball because not only it is in his DNA but he also got what it takes, plus he also proved that he can very well act and can become a versatile actor as well.

It was his first time to celebrate his birthday in a charity, but for Andre, he mentioned that this is actually his first time to celebrate his birthday this big because he was used to not celebrating his birthday. He was contented with a small gathering with his family, as simple as that, he doesn't even expect any gift from them even from his father because he doesn't want them to spend too much money. But he recalled a very special gift from his parents who bought him a Cartoon Network Adventure Time pillow, it was a surprise since when he saw it, it was in his bed. It was his very favorite gift.

Ms. Ariane Bautista of GMA Artist Center hosted the event and they first started out with games. The three lucky participants sung to Andre and the first one really had a nice voice!

There were a lot of games prepared for that day and everyone enjoyed their time with Andre who took his time off even with his busy schedule just to spend a meaningful birthday this year.

What's even more meaningful is when he played Basketball with the players of Tahanang Walang Hagdanan using wheelchair too. It was a half court game and the players he was with also compete outside of Tahanang Walang Hagdan via Local competitions and more.

Prior to joining the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons, Benjie’s alma mater, the younger Paras was a highly sought-after high school prospect from De La Salle Greenhills. After his stint at UP, the maroon cager would enter the San Beda Red Lion’s den where his father serves as an assistant coach of the school’s basketball team.
Even though you can see that he is struggling to play basketball with his wheelchair, he didn't give up, he showed how good he is with his craft and even scored major points throughout the game.

After the game, Andre got busy sharing gifts to all of them. You can't even see any sign of tiredness from his face.He still looks fresh, smiling all the time, took pictures with everyone in the gym and also got time to joke around with the players.

Andre's debut series became one of his biggest break when he appeared in the fantasy-drama series Elena M. Patron's Blusang Itim in a supporting role. He became a GMA Network contract artist in 2011 and a regular performer in Sunday All Stars.
He was also a part of the box office movie Diary ng Panget and also a part of the movie Overtime. His last teleseryes were Adarna and Rhodora X and now, he is part of the top rating afternoon series "The Half Sisters" as Bradley Castillo with Barbie Forteza, Thea Tolentino and Derrick Monasterio.

Andre mentioned that he still wants to achieve many things, he wants to improve his craft in acting although he never mentioned that he will quit and stop playing basketball, he just want to gran this opportunity given to him in the field of acting. He is very proud of his brother Kobe who is also making a name of his own in Basketball not only here in the Philippines but also in US. He misses his brother but they try to catch up via Skype all the time even falling asleep while talking to him.
