Alden Richards Celebrated his 23rd Birthday with Habitat for Humanity

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

Alden Richards has already proven that he is one of the most sought after star in this generation, from one project to another, he is one versatile actor which is why endorsements keep coming his way and with all of the blessings that is coming his way, Alden remains to be that one humble guy just like when he first started in the entertainment industry.

Despite of his busy schedule, according to him, he always wanted to take time and do some charity work. This is the perfect timing since he is celebrating his 23rd birthday this year, which is why, in cooperation with GMA Artist Center and Habitat for Humanity, he celebrated his birthday at a Habitat Community to help build homes for the needy. Alden is also the organization's ambassador.

People who live in the area were all excited to meet him in person which is why when he arrived, everyone were in a "all smiles" face and he is indeed very nice in person, I've met him thrice and doing an interview with him is easy breezy.

Stephanie Sol and Ariane Bautista hosted the event which they did perfectly.

The event started with an opening prayer from a representative of Habitat for Humanity

Alden thanked everyone who were present during his charity birthday especially the volunteers who will also help build homes. He added that he couldn't ask for more because he feels very blessed. This time around he wanted to give back to the people and this is the perfect thing to do. Ms. Anne Racoma, Project Manager of Habitat for Humanity gave a message to Alden and thank him for being supportive to their cause.

Alden's wish was,  “Hopefully good health, ‘yun ang number one for me and my family. Mas mahaba at mas fruitful na career and mas marami pang matulungang taong nangangailangan po,”

After the greetings and messages, the Kapuso Primetime Prince sported a hard hat and work gloves, he is ready to get his hands dirty and work on helping people who needs a better home. Instead of throwing a grand party, Alden opted to dine out with family and friends on his 23rd birthday last January 2. “Not so grand, kumbaga, kasi dumaan na 'yong Pasko, dumaan na 'yong New Year, masyado nang magastos. Personal lang, relax lang muna ang birthday,”

Alden is perfectly fit right now and the chores he did that day seems like he is not having a hard time at all, he even told them to add more soil to the wheelbarrow so that they can work much faster. Alden dugged up and loaded soil and debris on a wheelbarrow while others passed on pails of loose material bayanihan-style. It was really hot and humid that day but Alden and even the volunteers didn't fret because they love what they're doing.

Most of the residents at the Habitat Community (Bistekville Payatas, Quezon City) were Public school teachers, others were chosen to be part of the said program.

Habitat for Humanity Philippines (HFHP) is a non-profit organization that serves Filipino families in need of decent homes. They bring together partners who share the same vision of transforming lives through building responsible and sustainable communities.

To date, HFHP has served over 32,000 homes for the needy. HFH in the Philippines is one of Habitat’s largest programs in the Asia-Pacific region.

Their Mission:
Demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Advocate on behalf of those in need of decent shelter.
Focus on shelter by building and renovating simple, decent, affordable houses.
Engage broad community through inclusive leadership and diverse partnerships.
Promote dignity through full partnership with Habitat homeowners and future home partners.
Promote transformational and sustainable community development.
According to Alden, it was his personal request to have a “birthday build” when he became one of the Habitat for Humanity's ambassadors. “Noong pumasok ako dito, sabi ko rin, baka puwedeng on my birthday, we could do something for the communities na nagawa na or to build houses. For a change naman, kasi most of the time kapag birthday ko, I go to home for the aged, sa mga orphanage. “Noong pumasok ako dito, sabi ko naman, para maiba since I'm affiliated na sa Habitat, why not help them build houses or kung anuman 'yong maitulong ko rito sa community? “At least, for a change, mas mapalapit ako roon sa mga home partners ng Habitat.”

He promised to continue supporting the activities of the organization as long as his schedule is free.

After the building, merienda was served for everyone, they also played games with the kids like Longest Greeting and Bring Me, all of those who participated received gifts from Alden.

After the games, Alden shared gifts to the kids who were present that day. A kid even performed a song number for Alden.

For now, Alden will get some "Me time" since he just finished Bet ng Bayan and Ilustrado. He will doing another soap mid quarter this year. He will also be busy shooting the movie "Cain at Aabel" with Mark Herras. He is also busy promoting his endorsements like Boardwalk.
