Aiza Seguerra Launches new album Araw Gabi: Mga Awit ni Maestro Ryan under Universal Records

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

I've been a big fan of Aiza Seguerra for as long as I can remember and I'm not that old either. Ever since I heard her sing and saw her perform,I know that beyond that admirable acting skills is also a very talented artist who loves her craft more than anything else in the world. She is indeed a gem in this industry and thank God she released a new album this year because yes, we need more artists like her who could really sing, not a "auto tune" singer.

Years ago, Universal Records gathered the biggest rock acts to pay tribute to the APO Hiking Society in the album "Kami NApo Muna.'This was followed by Ogie Alcasid's tribute to George Canseco ("Ngayon At Kailanman") and Christian Bautista's tribute to Jose Mari Chan ("Romance Revisited").

This year, Aiza Seguerra pays tribute to Maestro Ryan Cayabyab in the album "Araw Gabi: Mga Awit ni Maestro Ryan."This is Aiza's first album under Universal Records.

The album, composed of some of the most-loved Ryan Cayabyab compositions, also features Mr. C playing the piano for the first single "Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka."

"Napaka-special ng album nito kasi binigyan ko ng sarili kong take ang pinakasikat na composi¬tions ni Mr. Ryan Cayabyab/'says Aiza. "Ang sarap ka-trabaho niya kasi maski Maestro na siya, he listens to my inputs."

Aiza also shares that the people working on the album prefer the execution to be very "organic."

When asked about some of the realizations the singer had during the recording of the album, Aiza shared, "his songs are very familiar, but if you get technical about it, like when you are already recording, ang hirap pala kasi komplikado ang mga notes niya."

The album also includes "Araw Gabi,""Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako,""Kay Ganda Ng Ating Musika,""Kahit Ika'y Isang Panaginip Lamang,""Paano Na Kaya,""Tunay Na Ligaya,""lduyan Mo," among others.

Aiza's album also serves as a tribute to Cayabyab who Aiza believes is one of the pillars of the local music industry.

Although original music is necessary for the survival of the music industry, Aiza said reviving songs like of those by Cayabyab is also needed.

"Maganda na kahit malayo na ang nararating ng OPM, maganda ‘yong kahit papaano, tignan pa rin natin ‘yong pinanggalingan natin," he explained. “Also at least makita natin how far we’ve gone and at the same time to gauge if we’re still at par kung ano ‘yong quality na binibigay nila doon sa mga kanta.”

On the day of Aiza's album launch, Aiza also sung some of the songs on her album and it felt like we were at her concert. I hope she'll have one soon because it's past time we get to watch a real performer hold a concert. One of the songs she sung was Araw Gabi. The said song, originally written by Ryan Cayabyab, was the theme song of Aiza and his wife Liza Diño on their wedding day.

Incidentally, the song was also written by Cayabyab for his wife, Aiza revealed.

“When I got married last year, nilabas naming itong song na ‘to kasi to ang theme song naming mag-asawa,” said Aiza. This is the carrier single of her album.
