GV Michel Oatmeal of Australia Brings Goodness & Wellness in the Philippines

Friday, July 31, 2015

Last July 29, GV Michel Oatmeal of Australia was launched here in the Philippines. Before I am not very fond of Oatmeals but after gaining weight and feeling heavier compared to my normal weight before, I decided that if I love body, I should take care of it more. From then on I started eating oatmeal. GV Michel's launch was indeed a good news for me because I eat Oatmeal for breakfast or even at dinner.

However, here in the Philippines, Oatmeal is usually not part of the breakfast. To prepare us for the demands of work and school, the body needs food that is packed with lots of energy and nutrients to get us going for the day ahead which is why Breakfast is important to jump start our day. According to nutritionists, oatmeal provides energy, supports healthy digestion, and may help lower blood cholesterol. It is also a good source of protein and is a significant source of fiber. All these benefits have led many to include it in their meals as part of a healthy diet.

There are a number of oatmeal brands in the market today, but one brand has in mind the health and wellness of Filipino families. GV Michel Oatmeal of Australia is a premium Australian brand that uses high-quality oats from Australia in all its products, such as organic instant oats, rolled oats, quick cooking and instant oats. It is distributed in the Philippines by Dong-A Pharma Phils., Inc. (DPPI), which also distributes Bacchus energy drink and Queen bakery products.

DPPI president Amen Say says GV Michel Oatmeal of Australia has been distributed in the Philippines since 2014.

“Oatmeal is considered to be a healthy product that Filipino families can benefit from. That’s one of the reasons why we picked up the product,” Say explains.

He adds that all GV Michel Oatmeal of Australia products contain significantly higher levels of fiber and protein to provide consumers with the fullest health benefits.

Although oatmeal is not a staple, Mr. Say says there is a developing market for it as more Filipinos become conscious of their health. He says a study estimates the market for cereals, which includes cornflakes and oatmeal, to be at P2 billion annually.

“There is a need to educate the public on the benefits of oatmeal,” he says. “The market is steadily growing. There is now more product offerings than before.”

In fact, the sales of GV Michel Oatmeal of Australia have grown steadily through the years. He points out that, contrary to the perception that oatmeal is a product patronized by the middle class, sales of their oatmeal have seen an uptake in the provinces.

Say himself eats oatmeal daily. And no, he doesn’t get tired of it because he has found innovative ways of adding oatmeal to his diet.

For a quick morning fix, he has oatmeal mixed with hot water or warm milk. When he has the time, he adds some chicken seasoning to his bowl for an oats version of arroz caldo.

He adds that you can soak the oats overnight in milk or yogurt, and just add your choice of probiotic or fruits for a healthy breakfast.

We can do a lot of healthy recipes with oatmeal, just like what Chef Lawrence Zafra presented during the launch.

Chef Lawrence Zafra is the President of Atlas Culinary Institute located at Dasmarinas City of Cavite. He is also one of the Senior Chef instructors of the school and mostly focuses on Asian Cuisine. He said that he is an oatmeal lover. Ever since he experienced a heart problem in the past, he turned to oatmeal so that he can have a healthier diet.

He prepared delicious meals that can be cooked using oatmeal like Oatmeal Caldo, Rissotto and Oatmeal Fritters. We also got the chance to taste it and it was indeed delicious!
I will really try it at home because cooking oatmeal instead of the usual rice as our main ingredient is more healthier and save us more time.

The Chefs of Century Park Hotel also prepared a healthy and delicious desserts for everyone and it is really good! They prepared Hearty Oat Cookies and Dark Chocolate and Oat Cluster.

There are also a number of ways to add oatmeal to your meals. It can be used in baking bread and cookies, as a crunchy breading for fried chicken, and as a thickener in soups and stews.
