4 o' clock habit against DENGUE: Dengue Mission Buzz at Esteban Abada Eelemtary School

Monday, October 12, 2015

A massive dengue awareness campaign which formally took place last August 18 at Esteban Abada Elementary School - Palomaria St., Brgy. Veterans Village, Q.C. was held spearheading the drive in dengue-prone areas. Every year, the local government together with Department of Health makes it a point to spread the good news on how we can all avoid DENGUE.

The Four O' Clock habit is really simple and truly works: at four o’clock, every day, everyone has to STOP what they are doing and dedicate a few minutes to mosquito control. They need to LOOK in areas where larvae can breed and destroy any larvae they find. People of each barangay will also need to LISTEN to instructions from local authorities, community leaders, or supervisors at work for collaborative activities. The 4 o’clock habit can be done daily or weekly depending on institutional capacity and resources.

The event that took place at Esteban Abada Elementary School started with a Dengue Parade. There's also Dengue Interactive booths around the school.

Based on the August 8 dengue update provided by the epidemiology and surveillance unit of the city health department, a total of 1,958 dengue hemorrhagic cases had been recorded in the city from Jan. 1 to Aug. 8 this year. Prevention is truly better than cure which is why we can all help prevent Dengue from happening if we all cooperate with the 4'o clock habit, STOP. LOOK & LISTEN!
