Calata Corporation Celebrates 16th Anniversary & Broke the Record for Guinness Largest Serving of Lechon

It was indeed a remarkable day last November 8 at Liwasang Aurora, Quezon City Memorial Circle because Calata Corporation, one of the biggest agribusiness conglomerates in the country, recently mounted a grand “Lechon Party”, achieving a Guinness World Record on the largest serving of roast pork. This event also served as celebratory feast and an early Christmas treat for the less privileged residents of Metro Manila, as part of the company’s 16th anniversary.
Thankfully, I was present during the event and I witnessed how they prepared for the big event and it was just perfect for Calata Corporation to celebrate their 16th anniversary with a big celebration as this one, we all know how Filipinos love roast pork or lechon.
Previously, the Guinness World Record on the largest serving of roast pork was held by Mexico where they served 3,094.2 kilos of cochinita pibil, a popular roast pork dish in its Yucatan region. Calata Corporation topped the record by serving 4,046 kilos of the country’s well-loved version of roast pork – the lechon.
“This year, we celebrated our 16 successful years in the business by giving back to the community instead of having a lavish party. This is a very momentous occasion for the Philippines, to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest serving of lechon’,” shared Joseph Calata, Chairman and CEO of Calata Corporation.
Ms. Rizza Santos hosted the said event.
Some of the guests during the event were Kapuso stars Gylza De Castro, Kristoffer Martin, Derrick Monasterio and Vicko Sotto.
People who were present at the big event at Quezon City Memorial Circle were in for a big treat since they all got food stubs so that they can claim their free lechon.
