Saturday, November 21, 2015

There are a lot of ways to make our world a better place to stay. Aside from Peace and Prosperity for each mankind and all the love in the world, it's another big factor to take care of our environment. No matter how small or big our contribution is in taking care of our Mother Earth, it is still a big help.

It's evident that our planet is facing big climate change over the years. Different countries around the world has been experiencing different disasters like earthquake and storms damages a lot of properties and killed many people. An example of this is the Typhoon Yolanda that hit the Philippines.

Now, more than ever, is the perfect time to be INVOLVED.

National Youth Commission (NYC) commissioner Dingdong Dantes urged the youth to take part in the battle against climate change, and there is no better time to do that but now.Ding Dong said that the Youth today are very active online thus, they can help make a difference by spreading awareness on how to take care of our environment and doing action as well on protecting Mother Earth.

#NowPH stands for “Not on Our Watch," a youth-led campaign that aims to harness the collective power of the public in urgently calling on countries to act on climate change issues.

The campaign also seeks to gather a million pledges which will be submitted to French President Francois Hollande, who is presiding the 21st conference of the parties (COP21) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The pledges to be gathered will be presented by the youth commission's Dindong Dantes and climate change commission's Lucille Sering to French President Francois Holland at the Paris climate summit.

The Philippines and France earlier signed the "Manila Call to Action on Climate Change” after Philippine President Benigno Aquino III welcomed French President Francois Hollande during his first state visit to the Southeast Asian country in February.

How can everyone participate?
The youth can sign up on the Nowph website and voice out their stand on the issue. The NYC and Climate Change Commission (CCC) launched #nowph in time for the 21st conference in climate action in Paris.

"Nowph aims to gather voices of the Filipinos especially the youth para naman may boses tayong mapaparinig in Paris, Kakaiba ang energy ng kabataan, it's just a matter of redirecting that energy to a proper direction na makabuluhan" Ding Dong said.

If ever he will be flying to Paris anytime soon, since Marian is scheduled to give birth this month and they are planning to name her "Maria Letizia", is he not afraid of the commotion happening at Paris in the past week. Ding Dong said, "Personally, hindi naman dapat maging balaikd ang nagyari sa Paris, infact yung issue sa Climate change is also an issue that affects the humanity. Yung attack dun according to our Pope is an attack to humanity, so hindi dapat maging hindrance yung para pahalagahan ang dapat sa buhay natin."
