Tuesday, December 01, 2015

Life can be really stressful sometimes with all the busy schedule, some heartaches, workloads, family problems, crisis in the country and other struggles. We all need a hearty laugh and I am just thankful that GMA Network has a lot of TV shows that can make us forget about our problems or things that make us stressed. One big example is Bubble Gang.

During the Kapuso Comedy Festival held at TGIFridays Tomas Morato, three of the cast of Bubble Gang were present namely Paolo Contis, Chariz Solomon and no less than Boobah herself Ms. Rufa Mae Quinto. Bubble Gang is the longest running and multi-awarded comedy-gag show in the Philippines and they are celebrating their 20th year. For the past 20 years, they have started a lot of trends and made every Filipinos laugh all the hardships away, so what is their secret?

According to Paolo and Rufa Mae, the secret of Bubble Gang is that the cast were all very dedicated in their passion to make people happy and it all started with Michael V. "Bitoy" and Ogie Alcasid who are the brain stormers of the show. They always make it a point that every episode is worth while. Even though they are a gag show, how close are the cast to each other? Chariz said that they always make it a point that they are all connected, they have communication every now and then even via Viber and Paolo added, even though they are a gag show and off screen they teased one another, there's no "pikunan" moment with them. Aside from this, the cast mentioned they have mutual respect for one another which made the show lasted that long even though there are new comers, they welcomed everyone with open arms.

It’s been said that it’s easier to elicit tears than laughter from an audience. Many Filipinos are quick to shed tears when watching the latest drama program but getting them to laugh is another thing altogether. That’s why it’s a big thing for Bubble Gang to reach this milestone anniversary. Paolo Contis added that even though he has done several roles like Kontrabida roles, Horror and even Drama, doing funny scenes and making people laugh is the hardest role he has done in his life. Although he said, when he was a kid and he has been part of Ang TV, it was his training ground in being a comedian and loves doing it.

There were also awards given to the cast that day via voting with their co-stars. Rufa Mae is one of the most voted for several awards. According to Rufa Mae, being a comedian is one of the milestone in her life because when she was just starting, she was offered to do sexy roles and since she was just starting, she accepted it but doing comedy roles gave her the edge to explore her acting potential, giving her a big break in the showbiz industry.
