Everything About Her: Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos as Vivian

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

It's been years since we last saw Gov. Vilma Santos in the big screen, but even before she accepted the role as Vivian for Everything About Her, Vilma said, “I asked my constituents’ permission before I started work on the movie,” said Ate Vi. “Sabi nila, ‘Okey.’ Na-miss na rin daw nila ang pagiging artista ko.”

Everything About Her is her first movie in almost three years (after the highly-praised indie Ekstra, directed by Jeffrey Jeturian).

So, what made Gov. Vi accpet this role considering she's been getting a lot of offers for the past 3 years, "“I like this one because it’s a light comedy-drama, about love for the family. It has drama but not so heavy; it has comedy but not total comedy. It’s not a rom-com, plus I get to play a role na mayaman naman this time." Nakaka-miss din naman yung role na maayos damit mo, mamahalain mga bag mo." Gov. Vi added that she likes her role as Vivian because “People may perceive me as sweet pero once pushed against the wall, nawawala ang sweetness ko. I would say that mahaba ang pasensya ko, mahaba ang pisi, but when you push me too hard, you won’t like my reaction.”

In “Everything About Her,” Vilma Santos plays Vivian, a rich and powerful career woman diagnosed with a terminal disease. She hires a nurse, Jaica (Angel Locsin) to take care of her and help her conceal her illness from her colleagues. Vivian instructs Jaica to ask her son, Albert (Xian Lim), to come home from the United States in a last-ditch effort to fix their estranged relationship.

Gov. Vi said she was impressed with Angel Locsin’s performance in the movie. “I’m not saying this because she is Luis’ girlfriend. She is one person whom I truly respect, I saw how focused Gel (Locsin’s nickname) was with her work. Portraying Jaica wasn’t easy. Her peg for the character was direk Joyce (Bernal). She was willing to learn. and wala din kami chance masyadong na makapag cikahan sa set since Direk Joyce was very strict, bawal kami magkasama sa set para di maapektuhan yung role namin."

Gov. Vi was also asked how she will rate Xian in the movie since he's been getting a lot of bad vibes in the social media, “His role is very important. He has a deep resentment toward his mother who left him when he was a kid. He comes back from abroad and he doesn’t know how to deal with his mother who is sick. Very challenging ang scenes niya. You will see a different Xian in this movie.”
