Derrick Monasterio Releases Self-Titled Album under GMA Records

Who would have thought that after being one of the teeny bopper boys who used to just look up to famous artists of Kapuso Network longing to have a spotlight of their own, Now, Derrick Monasterio finally conquers his dream and even though it was done step by step, there's a big reassurance that he will definitely go that far with his passion with his craft.
Most of us know that Derrick can act, he has been part of different Kapuso teleseryes like The Half Sisters, More Than Words and now Hanggang Makita Kang Muli with Bea Binene to name a few, now he wants to share his talent when it comes to singing. Derrick is not just your typical performer because he can really sing, no auto tunes needed because he really has a good voice.
During our interview with Derrick, he said it has been one of his major dreams, to have an album of his own and maybe someday do a concert at Araneta where he can perform in front of the people who supported him through the years. Derrick mentioned that if other artists can do it who in his own opinion doesn't even really have that golden voice, why can't he do it as well? since he can really sing and he knows that this is also his forte.
He added that loves singing Ballad songs, more on love songs since back when he was still a kid, he's been listening to some classic ballad songs, his influence was his mother who also love these type of music. Although he doesn't know how to play any musical instrument, he tries to learn some. He also tries to write some lyrics and maybe eventually in the future, make this a part of another album in the future. Derrick has a background in music in fact when he was young, he used to be part of a choir and he also joins signing contests, he added that finally seeing his face on the CD of his very own album is overwhelming because this was really a dream come true and hopefully people would also love this other side of him,
a singer aside from being an actor.
Derrick Monasterio's self titled EP includes six songs which includes his carrier single "Give Me One More Chance" written by award winning composer Toto Sorioso. The EP also includes Singer-Song Writer Ogie Alcasid's composition "Kailangan Kita" which were also sung by Gary Valenciano and Piolo Pascual. Other songs include "Reyna" by Vehnee Saturno, "Batobalani", a duet with Bet ng Bayan winner Hannah Precillas "Kailangan Ko, Kailangan Mo" and a bonus track which is a duet with Ms. Julie Anne San Jose and composed by King of Soul Janno Gibs " Ang Aking Puso".
Whewn asked if he can dedicate a song to Bea Binene, which song in his album would he choose, he said "Kailangan Kita."
Derrick added that it's also a big blessing that he can sing the compositions of award winning singer and composers like Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs and Mr. Vehnee Saturno. Doing a duet with Hannah Precillas and Julie Anne San Jose is another thing, he was nervous when they were recording the song and he even doubted himself if he can really do it because he know how powerful their voices were but when they were actually singing, the come out of the song was really good. He feels very grateful and thankful to GMA Records for giving him this chance to finally have an album of his own.
