Maxine Medina is the new Binibining Pilipinas - Miss Universe 2016

Maria Mika Maxine Medina was crowned the Binibining Pilipinas-Miss Universe, succeeding Pia Wurtzbach.
The 25-year-old beauty from Quezon City was hailed winner at the coronation night held at Smart-Araneta Coliseum, early Monday.

Medina, who bested 40 candidates to win the most coveted title, will represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe competition this year.

The other contestants who made it to the top are:
2nd Runner-up: Jehza Mae Huelar (#37)
1st Runner-up: Angelica Alita (#38)
Bb. Pilipinas - Globe: Nichole Marie Manalo (#28)
Bb. Pilipinas Grand International: Nicole Cordoves (#11)
Bb. Pilipinas - Supranational: Joanna Deapera Eden (#13)
Bb. Pilipinas - Intercontinental: Jennifer Hammond (#26)
Bb. Pilipinas - International: Kylie Verzosa (#31)

The winners were announced after Pia did her final walk as Miss Universe Philippines. Giving an emotional speech, Wurtzbach thanked God and those who supported her in her journey to become Miss Universe after two failed attempts at the local pageant.

"We should have a strong heart and prepared mind to turn your dreams into reality," Wurtzbach said.
