ENERGEN: Healthy Breakfast Movement 2016

Thursday, May 05, 2016

It was a jam packed event at MRB Compound, Brgy. Commonwealth Quezon City when Energen held it's "Healthy Breakfast Movement".

The healthy breakfast movement is hosted by Energen. It is a community based event that promotes healthy breakfast for the whole family and they go to different places in the country to promote wellness and healthy breakfast for everyone which starts by drinking Energen.

According to the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), 6 out of 10 Filipino households suffer from poor nutrition. Under nutrition stunts mental and physical development while over nutrition leads to obesity and chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

A national nutrition survey conducted by DOST-FNRI in 2013 reveals that wasting or thinness among 5-10 year old children remains unchanged since 2011 while stunting continues to be a problem among teenage kids. Obesity has a 30% prevalence rate while chronic energy deficiency continues to afflict 10% of adults.

These nutrition problems often result from poor eating habits, like skipping meals such as breakfast, or having an unbalanced diet, and can lead to poor performance in school or at work.

"Breakfast is the most important meal. Studies have shown that consuming a nutritious breakfast helps ensure that children and adults will have the energy that can sustain their productivity throughout the day. It also helps contribute to the development of mental and physical abilities," said Greg Anonas, Energen marketing manager.

Energen aims to educate and encourage families to appreciate the importance of a healthy and nutritious breakfast to start their day right. As a delicious and easy-to-prepare nutritious cereal drink, Energen helps complete the nutritious breakfast experience. It contains milk, eggs, cereal, essential vitamins and minerals such as folic acid, calcium, Vitamin A, E, B1, B6, and B12 needed to provide complete nutrition and energy.

Energen, in cooperation with the Department of Health League of Registered Nutritionists and Dieticians, has been actively supporting and educating Filipino families about the importance of having a healthy breakfast through feeding programs and community-based activities.

This includes a Breakfast Supplementary Feeding Program in Minalin, Pampanga where Energen has been instrumental in improving the weight and nutrition of malnourished children.

Also present during the Healthy Breakfast Movement is Rochelle Pangilinan who manages to maintain her sexy body even though she has a hectic schedule. She's busy doing teleseryes via GMA Network and also manages her business. She did a zumba session with the residents of MRB Compund and they all enjoyed it.

There were also raffle prizes for the residents which made the event even more exciting aside from learning how to create a healthy breakfast for the whole family.
