GMA programs, personalities remain as top choice of award-giving institutions

Broadcast leader GMA Network continues to earn the approval of various institutions, winning several awards from a number of award-giving bodies recently.

Recognizing the Kapuso Network’s commitment to promote good governance, the Office of the Ombudsman gave GMA a Plaque of Appreciation for “Bayan Ko”—the six-part original TV series produced created by GMA Public Affairs Head Nessa Valdellon and directed by Adolf Alix, Jr. A film showing of “Bayan Ko” was also held during the Office of the Ombudsman’s 29th Anniversary last May 16 to 18.

Meanwhile, at the 19th Gawad Pasado last May 3, several Kapuso personalities were recognized for their work in television and film.

GMA News pillar and Imbestigador ng Bayan Mike Enriquez was conferred the “Pinakapasadong Lingkod-Bayan”.

Kapuso Best Actress and Meant To Be leading lady Barbie Forteza was named as the “Pinakapasadong Katuwang na Aktres”  for the film “Tuos”.

Cannes Best Actress and D’ Originals lead star Ms. Jaclyn Jose received the “Natatanging Gawad Pasado 2016” for her performance in “Ma’Rosa”. Joining her is Eat Bulaga host Paulo Ballesteros who was, in turn, cited for his role in “Die Beautiful”.

Phenomenal love team AlDub—Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza—received the special award “Dangal ng Kabataan”.

The Gawad PASADO (Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro or Film Association of Professors) is a group of film educators in the country that annually honors artists, directors, films, TV shows and music that have positively contributed in the disciplines of social studies, language, arts, and humanities.

Numerous Kapuso programs and personalities were also cited at the Gawad Tanglaw (“Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw”) Awards last April.

Longest-running investigative program Imbestigador was recognized as this year’s “Best Investigative Program,” while award-winning investigative program Reporter’s Notebook won as “Best Documentary Program”.

Taking home the “Best Comedy/Gag Show” award was Pepito Manaloto, the country’s first-ever reality sitcom on television.

At the same time, GMA News TV’s I Juander was hailed as “Best Magazine Show”.

Kapuso host Rhea Santos was given the “Best Morning Show Host” award for the longest-running morning TV show, Unang Hirit.

Character actress Sue Prado was recognized for her role in Magpakailanman’s “Nabaliw na Ina” episode, earning the “Best Performance by an Actress” award.

Ms. Jaclyn Jose won “Best Actress” award for “Ma’Rosa”.

Meanwhile, Mike Enriquez added another feather to his cap as he took home the “Best Male Radio Anchor” award. Fellow DZBB anchor Susan Enriquez, in turn, was named as “Best Female Radio Anchor”.

The Gawad Tanglaw annually recognizes the best in the fields of film, television, radio and print. The board was composed of professors from different universities as well as media practitioners.
