Wednesday, July 18, 2018

One of the most shocking and intriguing tragedy that happened in Cebu in the 90's and is currently the most talked about film "JACQUELINE COMES HOME: The Chiong Story" is now showing in cinemas natiowide.

“Jacqueline Comes Home (The Chiong Story),” a gripping crime drama based on the controversial real-life rape and murder case of the Chiong sisters which happened 21 years ago in Cebu is portrayed by Donnalyn Bartolome as Marijoy and Meg Imperial as Jacqueline.  It marks the directorial debut of Ysabelle Peach Caparas (Direk Peach), with story and screenplay by her father, Carlo J. Caparas, who is also the movie’s assistant director.

The movie held a premiere night last July 16 at SM Megamall which also coincides with the Chiong Sisters 21st death anniversary.

Here are some of the snap shots during the red carpet premiere

It was a jampacked cinema and for sure, I know a lot of people are curious to know what happened about the sisters, it was 21 years ago, not everyone are familiar with the case and just like what someone said during the grand presscon of the film, this movie will eventually open close wounds and while speculations still haunt everyone especially the people involved in the said case, who are we to judge?

This film became a breathing ground, once again for bashers to treat the stars hastily and comment on their social media sites regarding why they accepted the film and good thing though, Donnalyn and Meg knows how to answer them and they will not tolerate close minded people to ruin their respective roles in the film. The official trailer of Jacqueline Comes Home which was upload via Viva Films account gained almost 2 million views and still continues to gain a lot of comments about the story.

After watching the docu Give Up Tomorrow last week then Jacqueline Comes Home on its premiere night, I’m lost for words. It’s a confusing & traumatic story and we still don’t know the REAL story behind it. But just the same, lives connected to it will never be the same again. I'm glad though that I watched the film since it also depicted how evil some people can be, whoever the suspect is, whether they are convicted or not or still free roaming around the city, the fact still remains that it is not safe out there. Crime will always happen and it will continue if we still have a not-so-trustworthy justice system and corrupt officials everywhere.

I've also done some researching about the case and clearly there's a lot to know about the people involved. The best thing to do is to watch the docu and watch the film as well, there will always be two sides of the story, it's best to know both of them.
