Janine Gutierrez is Dragon Lady coming this March on GMA Afternoon Prime!

Viewers are in for another fantaserye in the afternoon as Janine Gutierrez spearheads "Dragon Lady" via GMA Afternoon Prime with no less than top caliber actor Tom Rodriguez.
Dragon Lady will be tackling a story line that will showcase Filipino-Chinese beliefs, traditions and more of the Chinese culture at the modern times.
Janine Gutierrez can't help but share her excitement when she learned that she will be playing the role of "Dragon Lady". she is also nervous at the same time but deep inside she loves trying out something new and this one is very different from the past roles that she has done, viewers will see Janine in a character who is born with dragon-like features.
For this fantaserye, Janine will be have a fierce and fearless persona which is also a challenge for her since she has a beautiful and angelic features. But who knows? Looks can be deceiving.
Meet the LADY BOSS. Janine defines her character Celestina Sanchez as a lady boss with dragon-like features.
“When I was told that Dragon Lady is for me, I got nervous because I thought about dragon lady as in literally, and definitely there’s a need for heavy prosthetics,” began Janine. “It turned out, she’s a dragon lady because she has a bossy side. Honestly, when it comes to heavy prosthetics nervousness attacks due to the long hours the process takes but when I saw the final product, I felt excited because it’s something different.”
The Kapuso actress added that she shares similarities with her character. “If you ask my family, they will tell that I am a dragon lady because I’m the eldest, I’m the ate, ako ‘yung masungit sa pamilya at medyo strict so definitely they will agree that I fit into the role. But for everyone else, I don’t think I get to show my strong side. So through the show, I will get to channel that side of me.”
Janine also got excited about her role since it comes close to her dream role as dragon queen Khaleesi of Game of Thrones. “The difference is I don’t have a pet dragon but I am the dragon, masyadong mabait si Lord, ginalingan N’ya masyado (laughs).”
Janine also shared that she is also thankful to be working with Tom Rodriguez because she is a fan, she have been watching some of his shows even way back and she knows how professional and great actor Tom is.
Tom Rodriguez said his role as Michael Ong has a character who's in between good and bad. He added that he is lucky that he gets the chance to work with different leading ladies and now that he is working with Janine, he learned how hardworking she is and that she is very good at what she does.
Tom said that when he got the role as Michael Ong, he was a bit skeptical since he will be portraying a Filipino-Chinese character and his looks says otherwise being a mestizo but more than that, they are willing to do what it takes for viewers to understand how the story will flow and how they will tackle the story as episodes go by. Tom says he's planning to immerse himself in learning dragon boating and speaking basic Mandarin for his character.
Even though the teleserye is "Fantaserye", it'll be focusing more on the real world.
Tom described his working relationship with Janine as authentic while Janine said it's sincere. Adding to this, she said they don't need to exert extra effort in their acting to make it more believable on the screen because they really work comfortably with each other.
Dragon Lady, also starring Joyce Ching, Edgar Allan Guzman, Diana Zubiri, James Blanco, Maricar de Mesa, Lovely Abella, Julie Lee, DJ Durano, Dexter Doria and Odette Khan, will air sometime in March.
